I am in my 3rd year of studying a Bachelor of Learning Management (Primary) and am really excited to be posting weekly blogs for this course (although I have never done it before).
Week 1
Weeks one's tutorial main focus was on 'Knowing Your Learners' in particularly concentrating on 'learning Styles.' Throughout the past few years in this course I have gained an understanding that each individual student in the classroom is different, and as a teacher you need to be able to cater for each individuals needs. To be able to cater for each individual student you need to have an understanding of their learning styles.
The most common known classification of leaning styles is; visual, auditory and kinaesthetic.
- Visual Learners learn best through seeing and reading.
- Auditory Learners learn best through listening and speaking.
- Kinaesthetic Learners learn best through touching and doing.
After completing the 'Index of Learning Styles questionnaire' (Soloman, B., Felder, R.) my results confirmed my most dominate learning style as being a visual learner. I would completely agree with this as I know that I learn best through the use of pictures, diagrams, flow charts, time lines, films, and demonstrations.
Howard Gardner developed the multiple intelligence theory, as he believed each learner has a variety of abilities. After taking the Multiple Intelligences Test, my results showed;
Throughout this weeks reading there is also mention about the concept of digital natives and digital immigrants. From my own personal experience I believe that I would be considered as a digital native as I have always grown up with some type of technology and it is a big influence on my life today as a 19 year old. I do believe though that the younger generations today would be able to teach me a few things about different technologies.

Your blog is the first full blog I have read and I really enjoyed it. It flowed smoothly and you had visuals breaking up your content so it didn't get boring.
